Keeping your baby cool in the heat
Keeping your baby cool, with the heatwave we are currently in. Is so important. So here are some tips to help you on your way.
Keep the curtains and blinds closed in the bedrooms to help keep the sun from streaming in. And the temperature creeping up. If your curtains are thick you may need to keep them open a bit to let the air in from the window. So keep that in mind too.
Pop a bottle of frozen water in front of the fans in the room to help cool the air as it moves.
Run a cool bath just before bedtime to help keep the little ones feel cooler and sleep better.
It may even be a good idea to just let them sleep in their nappies. Especially if they are kicking off their covers at night while it’s hot.
We are sure you know this but it is best to keep babies out of the sunshine. Especially between 11 am and 3 pm.
Use parasols if you must go out but avoid putting any blankets or covers over the buggy. This stops the air from circulating and can make it even hotter for the baby.
Although a brilliant invention. Waterproof sheets can be sweaty for a baby and make them overheat. While the temperatures hit new highs, take them off until we head back to cooler weather. Which as you know in the UK could be any day now.
We hope these tips on keeping your baby cool help you in this crazy heatwave.
