When to book a newborn photography session

When to book a newborn photography session
25 February 2022 by Natalie Rodley-Haines

You have a little on on the way… you can’t wait to get the cute sleeping images.  But your not sure when to book a newborn photography session.

It is worth booking in before the tiny bundle arrives.  We advise you do this 4-6 weeks before your due.  We always make sure we have some flexibility if your little one arrives early or late.

This is because we have a very small window to get those sleepy images before your newborn becomes more aware of surroundings.
In the first 14 days newborns tend to sleep for about 14-16 hours.  But at the 2 week mark they start to have a growth spurt.  This then causes them to be more a wake, and more hungry!  They will be fussy and want you to feed them much more often.

Booking with us

As a newborn specialist (Natalie has been photographing newborns for over 8 years).  We have all the set ups required to photograph them as they sleep.

We have a variety of specialized newborn outfits.  You do not have to rush about worrying you don’t have the right things to bring.  Although you are always welcome to bring something meaningful for you.

We allow 2 hours for a newborn shoot, so that nothing is rushed.  We have plenty of time to move to sets, change outfits and for you to feed or settle them if need be.

It is easy to book and you can do so on-line with the button below.

Before the session

Try and keep your little one as awake as possible before the shoot so that we get a deeper sleep during the shoot. Aim to feed just before leaving home if bottle or as soon as you arrive with breast. Please ensure you bring a spare bottle and milk with you as babies get hungry during our newborn sessions.

Hopefully this answers all your when to book a newborn photography session and more.
