With the UK seeing more and more of the cake smash session and our clients love them. We thought we would let you know a little more about them
the start...
It all started over in the US and soon spread to the UK.
There are a few ideas of where the idea came from. One is that the idea came from the tradition of a wedding couple where they grab some of their cake and smash it into each other’s faces. Or where they feed it to each other.
The second which seems more connected to me is that it originates from a celebration called Mordida. A Mexican tradition, where on the first birthday of a child, they have their face shoved into a cake. Usually by mum or dad, while others sing Mordida (meaning bite in Spanish). I feel this is more aligned with the cake smashes of today.
What happens
There are four amazing parts to the cake smash session
1) PRE-CAKE – we capture some images of your little one on our beautiful set before introducing the messy cake. A few extra special birthday images for you to treasure.
2) THE CAKE – It’s time for your little one to get as messy as possible!
3) THE BATH – We love this part! Your little one gets to splash around in our little roll-top bath with extra bubbles! It’s a different set to the cake and you get some extra special images of them having fun and playing with the bubbles (You also get to take them home clean )
4) THE END – We make sure we get some cute images of them wrapped up in a towel or robe at the end. These make for the cutest images (We do ask you to bring your own towel/robe).
