Tips for Taking better pictures of your kids
Even us photographers can find photographing our kids difficult (for some reason they never want to let us). Put them in front of another photographer and they are more than happy. But you want be taking better pictures of your kids? Here are some tips on how.
With us all having access to mobile phones with cameras. Good quality cameras at that. We can often fall into the trap of photographing everything and anything. Make sure you choose your moments for a picture so your child doesn’t start to hate it.
Get down to their height
Most of the time you may find yourself standing up to take pictures, looking down on your children. But it’s a great idea to get down to their height or to bring them up to yours.
That way you are looking into their eyes which gives you a better connection in the image.
Don't say smile
We all have done it or do it. How many times do you ask your child to smile for the camera? Even when only young.
Unfortunately this leads to fake, and unreal smiles. Instead of seeing their gorgeous happy smile.
You are better making a joke or making funny noises and getting them to laugh for real to capture the special moments.
Capture the unposed
It is great when you capture your kids just doing their own thing. Grab your phone and resist trying to get their attention so they are looking at you.
Take a few images of them just concentrating on their drawing or reading. When they are looking down. These can be very important and special memories for all of you.
