Preparing for your puppy to arrive

Preparing for your puppy to arrive
18 February 2022 by Natalie Rodley-Haines

Preparing for your puppy….. you have chosen your new furry family member.  You can not wait for them to arrive.  The cuddles, the walks, the puppy love.  But now you need to prepare.  And we are here to help you.

Preparing for your puppy

Puppy Proof your home

It’s like having a 2 year old child that is in to everything when your new pup arrives.  Take time to look around your space and see what you will need to lock away and hide.

Make sure anything harmful is out the way… cleaning products, cables and anything they would be happy to chew on.

You may want to restrict areas of the house they can access. Often purchasing things like stair gates before they arrive and setting them up.

Create a resting space

Set up your puppy a place that is there space.  It can be a corner of a room or some use a crate.

This is a space they won’t be disturbed, a quiet place of there own.  Use lots of blankets, and bedding to keep them warm and comfy.

If your planning for the pup to stay in your room, you will still need a separate space they can use during the day.  A safe space for them to rest without being disturbed.
