Self Care for Mums shouldn’t just be being able to take a shower or attempt to go to the toilet on your own. It is really important as a mum to try to find self-care time. The more you do this, the better energy you will have to give to your children.
Although I know this can not be an easy thing to prioritize.
Start by scheduling a time
It can be much easier to make sure that self-care happens if you schedule it each week. If you know your partner is home on a Saturday morning or your child sleeps at 10 am every day.
As the kids get older you can look to use the time they are at school or clubs to be when you have some self-care time.
Below are some ideas of what you can do in this you time.
Yoga
And it doesn’t need to be a class, although it would be great if you can get out and meet new people.
You can download an app on your phone or look up videos on YouTube. What is even better is that often this can be a 10 or 15-minute thing. So you are more likely to have the time to do it.
Time to breathe
This could be waking up early and enjoying a coffee or tea before anyone else gets up. Just allow yourself that quiet time. Alternatively, it could be during the day and if sunny go out in the garden and enjoy it.
When you take this time don’t use it to pick up your phone and check social media. Use it as a time to be grateful for the drink you are enjoying. Close your eyes and breathe deep.
Take a nap
Never a bad time to take a nap. We all know how exhausting a little one is, and grabbing a nap at the same time they are to get some extra precious moments to sleep is a godsend.
